John Clarke | President & CEO, Director
John is a non-executive director of Great Quest Metals Ltd. and has served as the CEO of Nevsun Resources Limited, which successfully brought the Bisha Mine into production in Eritrea. Prior to joining Nevsun in 1997, Dr. Clarke was an Executive Director of Ashanti Goldfields Company Limited of Ghana, where he helped establish Ashanti’s gold exploration program throughout sub-Saharan Africa. Dr. Clarke holds a Ph.D. in metallurgy from Cambridge University and M.B.A. from the University of Middlesex.
Kevin Jennings | Senior Vice President & Chief Financial Officer
Kevin has over 20 years’ experience in corporate finance, corporate development, strategy and senior management positions with global mining companies. Most recently, Kevin served as CFO of SUN Gold. Prior to that, he led the successful IPO of African Barrick Gold where he held the role of CFO and, over his career, has managed mining international acquisitions, divestitures and project investments worth more than US$10 billion. Kevin has also served in senior corporate roles with Barrick Gold, (Vice President, Corporate Development), Xstrata Nickel, (Director, Business Optimization), Falconbridge (Director, Business Development), and American Racing Equipment (CFO). Kevin is a Chartered Accountant with a BA in Administrative studies (Honours Accounting) from York University and a BA in Economics from the University of Western Ontario.
Arnold T. Kondrat | Executive Vice-President
Banro’s principal founder, Arnold is the Executive Vice-President of the Corporation and has been involved in corporate finance activities for over 20 years. He is also President and Managing Director of Sterling Portfolio Securities Inc., a private venture capital firm based in Toronto.
Donat K. Madilo | Senior Vice President, Commercial & DRC Affairs
Donald joined Banro in 1996 as Treasurer of the Corporation and served as CFO until September of 2014. He has over 25 years experience in finance and administration, including CFO of a number of mining exploration companies. Donald holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Honors) from Institut Supérieur de Commerce de Kinshasa, a B.Sc. (Licence) in Applied Economics from University of Kinshasa and a Masters of Science in Accounting (Honors) from Roosevelt University in Chicago.
Dan Bansah | Head of Projects and Operations
Dan has over 25 years-experience in the gold mining industry. He has an MSc in Mineral Exploration with Distinction from Leicester University, UK and is a Member and a Chartered Professional of AusIMM. Dan was Banro’s Vice President of Exploration from 2007 to 2013. Prior to joining Banro in 2004, Dan was the Group Mineral Resource Manager with Ashanti Goldfields, with responsibilities for the coordination, auditing and compilation of Ashanti’s Mineral Resources and Ore Reserves in Africa.
Martin Jones | Chairman, Banro Foundation
Martin joined Banro in 2004 as Vice President, Corporate Development, following a career as a consultant in corporate communications. In 2007, he took over management of the Company’s registered charity, the Banro Foundation. In 2011 he became its Chairman. The award-winning Banro Foundation has been formally recognized in the DRC and Canada for its contributions to social and economic reconstruction in the DRC.
Desire Sangara | Vice President Government Relations
Desire is Banro’s Vice-President, Government Relations and is based in Kinshasa. He has a Masters degree in management from E.D.C. (Paris) and has over 17 years professional experience in D.R.Congo’s exploration and mining sector. He previously held senior positions with the Belgium-Luxemburg mining company, Mindev, and with Ashanti Goldfields, where for seven years he was the company’s country manager.
Koos Nel | Vice President Stakeholder Relations & Security
Koos has 31 years experience in the mining industry in the gold, platinum, coal and base metals sectors. He has Diplomas in Human Resources Management and Labour Relations, and has attended Executive Development Programs at the Wits Business School in South Africa and the IMD at Lausanne. Over the past decade, he has had responsibility for the Human Resources function, the Global security function, and the Business and Leadership Academy within Goldfields. Koos heads up the Stakeholder Relations and Security functions for the Banro operations in the Eastern DRC.
