Simon Village
Position: Chairman and CEO
Simon Village was formerly a Managing Director, World Gold Council, and principal of Exchange Traded Gold, a company responsible for developing and managing a series of direct physical gold investment products that have revolutionised the dynamics of the gold industry. Previous to this he was a Managing Director with HSBC responsible for Global Mining based out of London, Head of HSBC's South African Securities business and a Mining Engineer with Anglo American/De Beers. Simon holds a B.Eng (Hons) degree from Camborne School of Mines, and brings some 20 years of gold industry and investment experience to the Company.

 
Arnold T. Kondrat
Position: Executive Vice-President & Director
Banro's principal founder, Arnold is the Executive Vice-President of the Corporation and has been involved in corporate finance activities for over 20 years. He is also President and Managing Director of Sterling Portfolio Securities Inc., a private venture capital firm based in Toronto.

 
Donat K. Madilo
Position: Chief Financial Officer
Donald joined Banro in 1996. He has over 17 years experience in finance and administration and holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Honors) from Institut Supérieur de Commerce de Kinshasa, a B.Sc. (Licence) in Applied Economics from University of Kinshasa and a Masters of Science in Accounting (Honors) from Roosevelt University in Chicago.

 
Dan Bansah
Position: Vice President, Exploration
Dan is Banro's Vice President, Exploration and has over 20 years experience in mineral resource and ore reserve estimation. He has M.Sc in Mineral Exploration with Distinction from the University of Leicester and is a Member and a Chartered Professional of Aus.I.M.M. Prior to joining Banro in 2004, Dan was Group Mineral Resource Manager with Ashanti Goldfields, with responsibilities for the coordination, auditing and compilation of Ashanti's Mineral Resources and Ore Reserves in Africa.

 
Gary Chapman
Position: Vice President, Operations
Gary Chapman holds a BSc (Hons) degree in Geology and has 34 years of experience in the gold mining industry in both underground and open cast operations. He began his career in the field of Mineral Resource Management where he was responsible for organic growth projects, developing feasibility studies, ore body evaluation, and strategic and medium term planning. At his last posting, as Operations Manager at the Tarkwa Gold Mine in Ghana, he led the team responsible for doubling the reserve. He was also responsible for the strategic planning leading to the building of the CIL Plant and instrumental in initiating the mine's expansion to 12.3 million tonnes per annum.

 
Tomas Sipos
Position: Vice President, Corporate Development
Tom has over 20 years of experience in corporate development and investment banking. He previously oversaw the investor relations function at Gabriel Resources Ltd. Prior to Gabriel Resources he worked abroad as an investment banker in the emerging markets, most recently as Senior Investment Officer at the International Finance Corporation (IFC -- member of the World Bank Group).

 
Martin Jones
Position: Chairman, Banro Foundation
Martin joined Banro in 2004 as Vice President, Corporate Development, following a career as a consultant in corporate communications. In 2007, he took over management of the Company's registered charity, the Banro Foundation. In 2011 he became its Chairman. The award-winning Banro Foundation has been formally recognized in the DRC and Canada for its contributions to social and economic reconstruction in the DRC.

 
Desire Sangara
Position: Vice President Government Relations
Desire is Banro's Vice-President, Government Relations and is based in Kinshasa. He has a Masters degree in management from E.D.C. (Paris) and has over 17 years professional experience in D.R.Congo's exploration and mining sector. He previously held senior positions with the Belgium-Luxemburg mining company, Mindev, and with Ashanti Goldfields, where for seven years he was the company's country manager.

 
Koos Nel
Position: Vice President Corporate Services
Koos has twenty five years experience in the mining industry in the gold, platinum, coal and base metals sectors. He has Diplomas in Human Resources Management and Labour Relations, and has attended Executive Development Programs (EPD) at the Wits Business School in South Africa and the IMD at Lausanne. Over the past decade he has had responsibility for the Human Resources function, the Global security function, and the Business and Leadership Academy within Gold Fields. Koos heads up the Human Resources and Security functions for Banro and has specific responsibility for the Twangiza Mine Resettlement Project.

 
Brian Scallan
Position: Vice President Commercial
Mr. Brian Scallan, BSc (Chem Eng), BCom (Economics), MBA, began his career as a chemical engineer at the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research in South Africa. After completing a degree in economics and an MBA he practiced as a management consultant for 7 years concentrating on marketing and strategy. He joined Standard Merchant Bank to design and implement its marketing strategy and was a member of the Bank's senior management committee. He transferred to operations becoming Head of Structured Trade and Commodity Finance. He was also involved with major mining project finance activities in Uganda and the DRC. After 15 years with the Standard Bank Group he consulted in project finance, primarily mining and infrastructure projects in Africa. In 2006 he was appointed Head of Funding for Nikanor PLC until its takeover by Katanga Mining Ltd. He has had experience of working on mining projects in the DRC extending over 15 years. He is currently also a director and Vice President Finance of Delrand Resources Limited. He is responsible for commercial matters within Banro.

 
Thinus Vorster
Position: Vice President Project Development & Engineering
Thinus brings well-rounded engineering and African mining project experience to the development of the Twangiza mine. His career stretches back 29 years, including 27 years with Gold Fields. During this period, he spent 22 years at the flagship Driefontein Gold Mine; the last three years of this stint were spent as head of engineering services, serving on the Mine's Executive Committee. He was transferred to Gold Fields' International Operations in December 2004 and appointed head of engineering services at the Tarkwa Gold Mine in Ghana, where his management focus was on capital projects and operational optimization. He completed his career at Gold Fields as Manager, Projects in Ghana.
